photoshoot i found when researching

these are some photos i found from a shoot with kate moss and some gypsies,i am goin to use these photos in my research, maybe do a few extra pages if i can as really love these photos, they are just what i was looking for in this project.

i really like this project (research practices) because it links in with critical studies which ive really enjoyed this year. my idea is to use a gypsy them to develop my research and design until i have a final line up and can create my 1/2 scale model. so far im designing, ive finished my research and i need to get my design finished as i want to start making on monday or tuesday. because we are only in once a week for this project it seems really short but i enjoy havin my own time to do work and i think i work just as well as if i was in uni everyday
im so gladcrit and enterprise are handed in, im terrible at writing so im not expecting much of a grade for my essay but my folder was ok. enterprise presentations were on tuesday and it was so nervouse before and during, it wa such a relief after they were finished, and our busness plan and notes were handed in the week before.
the search for work experience has been hard,ive e mailed around 8 places and the only replies i;ve had are just that they dont do work experince or no reply at all,i need to try again,it just keep getting pused to the back of my mind and other prjects and work gettign in front of it.

these are my shorts i made for design realisation,im so proud of them,they are probably the best garment ive ever made, only one problem,they were tiny!!

its my presentation next week as well as hand in and im so nervous, my trend book is really good,i like it a lot i think it looks quite proffesional even though i had to re print a few pages as there were a few spelling mistakes! i have my presentation pretty much sorted i just need to practice it, and maybe pay someone to do it for me! i liked that we were shown properly how to do flats on this project at the start in the mac suites, its definately gonna benefit my work from now on as its such a good skill to have. it made my trend book look so much more proffessional than if i had just drawn them.
We've finally got our enterprise business idea sorted, its called rococo and we make new garments form vintage fabrics,still got a little bit to work on it but im happy we finally have an idea we can work with.

applied fashion design

this prject is really good, we are making our own trend and designing a collection and trend book around it, its nice to have some projects where you get a break from the stress of making a garment, its still always stressful though! my trend is called revolutionary and its very regal british with an edge. at the end of this prject we have to give a presentation,and i hate presentations,i so bad at them, i shake,go red,my voice wobbles, and my reading skills magically plumet! im enjoying it at the moment though,doin the trend and design work,desinging is probably my favorite part,because you can use all your ideas to develop exactly what you want. its my birthday tomorrow so i will not be doin anything work related this weekend,which means working extra hard next week!

after xmas

16th jan-christmas was really good, it was nice to go hame and have a little break and now back and doing design realisation, this project is a follow on from tailoring processes and im really enjoying this one, i seem to work more,and harder the more i like the project. we're making a garment on this project and im pretty excited about this as my garment in application of design was awful, i really want to prove that i can do well when making the garment.

we're also doin ppd2 at the moment which is ok, its just preparing for work experience and the interview we have at the end of the year,which is gonna make me so nervous! crit is still goin well,the lectures arent quite as good as the start of the year but still interesting and i enjoy the seminars,i just dont like my time slot (3pm-5pm)

29th jan- im making shorts for my project ive decided, im working on them now and im pretty optimistic about it as ots goin pretty well and getting put toghether pretty fast which means more time to do my technical package!yay

enterprise is goin ok,im in a group with bonnie and grace and our ideas arent strong enough for our business so we keep having to think of a new idea which is frustrating but im sure we'll get it in the end.

one looooong post

Ive been writing my blog in a notbook as my blog seemed to give up in september so i thought id save time trying to work it an just come back to it nearer th time so here is my very long post about all my work throughout this year so far:

september has been the hardest month for me this year as i had had such a great summer nd i wasnt ready to be back in the u.k. let alone uni. the rirst prject we did i didnt love, i found it hard to work in groups because not everyone's opinions can be used in the work,i got on with my group but i just found it hard to get my ideas across as much as i'd have liked. critical studies this year was so much more interesting than in 1st, i really enjoy it at the moment and find the lectures and seminars interesting,my favorite so far is the marxism one we just had. I did philosophy and ethics in A-level which i think helps me understand the theories.

tailoring processes has got me back on track with work and i really enjoy it, the little workshops we're doing with angie and hugo are so helpful and i will definately use them in future projects. i feel like im working a lot harder since the first project.
enterprise is a new thing this year and i dont think im enjoying it too much, its not difficult or anything i just dont think that subject inerests me much so i find it hard to concentrate but hey, its only once a week!

This is work from the drawing workshop we did in our creative approches to fashion project. i put this piece in because it was one of the 1st ones i did and showed me that i'm not as bad at sketching as i think!

we used all different media's in this piece which made the materieals on the persons clothes look different and made it stand out as one of my favourites

everyone went round to different easles drawing different sections of the subject we're sketching.i love how colourful this is as well as the fact that eceryone contributed to it.

this is a piece from my elective drawing practice group and it really helped me with my drawing skills and being able to shade and use proportion correctly.

this is another sketch from my elective,we were tld to do some pieces and use an eraser to take away negative space. i was suprised that this technique worked so well and this ended up being one of my favorites from the course.

This sketch was done in the drawing class we did and i liked all the techniques and different medias we used. This was one of my favorite PIeces i did.

This was at the very start of the year and we got to make a dress out of paper and design of the stand garments for our dolls. i thought the dress me and kate made was really interesting and made a great shape.

i chose these bacause these are designs i did at the start of the year and was happy that i had used interesting shapes and not just stuch to the body's sillouhette.

this was a research page put of my first project- creative approaches to fashion. i chose this page because it shows the theme i was going for which helped me develop my garment later on in the prject.

This is a research page i did over the summer before i started. the work i had choses was slah and burn so i wanted to get this across in my 1st research pages even though it doesnt quite show the direction im going to go in.

I chose thi spiece bacuse it was the first final line-up and proper piece of CAD work i had done on my own.

These are some designs I drew for the Creative Design practices module. Iused more unusual shapes than normal which gave me more ideas throughout the project

I chose this research board because it was one of my favorite pages i did because of the colour and combination of research and design on the page.

the talk about th pathways were really helpful as i thought that the pathways were different to what i got told in the presentation. i ended up choosing pathway b because i wanted to do a more hight street/retail part of fashion and i think i would be better at it than pathway a where you have to be extra creative to make one off pieces. im really excited for next year and to start doing the new modules. the tailoring course sounds really interesting and it will be a good skill to have. im now trying to pick my 15 pieces for my presentation and taking notes on why im choosing them so i can put them all on to here and the disk.

updates since easter

starting work with our 3rd years was a little nerve wracking. i was a bit worried what we would have to do and if they were nice. i think i was lucky! emily was really nice and gave me plenty to do. i collected a lot of things for her in town over th weeks including fabric and other materials. i was also given the responsibility of cutting out patterns in paper and doing some research for packaging and locations in which to advertise.
The interdisciplinary processes project went well and i felt really on top of my work so i didnt need to rush anything. the fabric workshop with angie was really interesting and i made my fabric i was using in my final piece. the tasks we were given over the days in college i thought were helpful as i tend to do more work when im given a target or deadline to work to.

i got my critical studies essay back the other day,it wasn't a brilliant mark but i passed so im quite pleased about that. im not really any good at essays so it took me a long time to write it and word it in an interesting way. i enjoyed makng my garment more than i ever have in th past because i was up to date with everything else i could just concerntrate on that. i think my garment turned out well and although its not one of the best ones out of our course i was pleased with it! the last few days before hand in are always stressful whether i've done my work or not. its just the stress of making sure you have everything you need and checking its good enough.

easter over

so glad to hand in the fashion art and culture project,having it over easter made it feel like it was dragging on an di got lazy over th holidays so i could have done more,bein ghome for so long just made me forget i was coming back though!i liked my final image though. the next project interdisciplinary processes seems interesting,im not 100% sure where its goin at th moment,but i lik eit that way.its more interesting to do some research on one thing without havin to think all the way to the final piece.

im going home tomorow after ive handed in mt critical studies essay.im so awful at writing essays!!i hope its ok! the fashion art and culture project is goin well,i think im pretty much on track. the crit we had last week was really helpful.

nearly th end

the creative design practices project is nearly over and i cant wait to hand it in!it took me a while to get into this project,more than others, but the more ive done, the more ive enjoyed doing it. i need to do lots of photoshop work now and im not that great at it so thats a challenge. The fashion art and culture module is going well and i find it really interesting. i usually get bored after someone talks for a long time but the lectures are really interesting and i seem to be taking a lot of it in. im not sure what my final piece will be yet but im thinkin i'd like to study the flapper girl era as this was one of the subjects that interested me th most.i haven't done a massive amount of resarch yet because of the creative design practices but i can do more over reading week to get a better idea of what i want to make.

loooong time!

my blog got blocked again!its ridiculous!maybe i need to put more things on...?well my new years resolution is to write on this more so it doesnt block me!the last project i have just finished i enjoyed...partly. the actual pattern cutting and making the garment was so good, i loved being able to know how to do that (even if i did get it wrong a million times!) but the tecnical file was a pain and i think after seeing everone else's at the hand in, mine isnt too good! on the bright side we've started a new project and it seems ok, its taking me a while to get into it but i think its just because its not as practical as the other ones. we have to have an idea for a container and i have chosen ships and boats as ive got some interesting shaped ones. im going to use the shapes of the ships and their sales and structures to base my designs on. i think im really goin to try hard to manage my time better on this project as usually im a bit of a last minute girl, but i'm going to get everything sorted in plenty of time so that i dont have a load of little bits to catch up on at the end.
